As a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher, I am committed
to a safe, challenging, and loving practice,
and my teaching emphasizes the importance of breath,
alignment, introspection, and self-acceptance. I
received both my 200 and 500 hour certifications from Be Yoga
in a style called ISHTA, which stands for the "Integrated
Science of Hatha, Tantra, and Ayurveda." In more generalized
terms, ISHTA refers to a vinyasa style class that uses Tantric
meditation and philosophical principles and incorporates elements
of Ayurveda.
|
The term ISHTA has a double meaning, however, and in Sanskrit
means "individual" or “personal,” signifying
the importance of individuality within one's yoga practice.
It is my strong belief that each person's yoga practice is
distinct, and one of the challenges of yoga is to explore
deeply and honestly one's needs, gifts, and limitations, which
are constantly shifting from day to day and moment to moment.
|
My class falls under the ISHTA lineage and is
vinyasa in style with elements of Tantric meditation and philosophy
dispersed throughout. It is challenging and rigorous
while it is also safe and correctly aligned.
I help empower my students to individualize their practice according
to their specific needs by always offering modifications of
postures as well as ways to make them more challenging. I consistently
encourage my students to make choices for themselves according
to what they need at a particular time, and the overall goal
of my class is to help students work their bodies, calm their
minds, and feed their spirits in a healthy
and individualized way. |
